Obama wins by 7% in a two person race on the heals of two unpopular wars, a vastly unpopular president, and the worst economic disasters in recent memory. That 7% is taken as a mandate to radically restructure our society.
Christie wins by 4% in a three person race after being vastly outspent by an incumbent billionaire actively supported by the incumbent president and vice president. That 4% is taken as "a narrow win for the challenger".
