Democrats and women's rights

It's ironic, but the first big medical reforms coming out of this Democratic administration are (1) the expansion of limits on abortion (via the Stupak amendment) and (2) the application of a cost / benefit analysis to breast and cervical cancer screening.

So far, it looks like medical savings via "cost containment" will be shouldered disproportionately by women.

Of course, under all pending healthcare reform proposals, Viagra will still be covered.

"Feminist progressives" must be feeling used.
