Virginia, New Jersey and no healthcare reform this year

Every moderate Democrat in Congress is rethinking their support for the Obama administration this morning, in light of the Virginia and New Jersey results.

Therefore, healthcare reform is dead this year.

A health insurance reform bill (which could have been passed with bipartisan support 4 or 5 months ago and declared a victory by Obama) might get through sometime in 2010. But, it will now be so much weaker than it could have been (and than what was promised) that it will turn off Obama's base without placating his opponents.
