Healthcare reform status

"The bill . . . would cost more than $1 trillion over 10 years, requires nearly all Americans to purchase health insurance by 2013 and creates a government-run program, similar to Medicare, to compete with private insurance companies. To help cover the costs, the legislation would impose a 5.4% income surtax on individuals who earn more than $500,000 a year and married couples making more than $1 million. Still under negotiation: disputes over coverage of immigrants and abortion."

Remember when the president called people liars for questioning whether the bill would cost more than $1 trillion? or include a mandate to purchase health insurance? or cover illegal immigrants and abortion?
