Liars figure

Figures don't lie, but liars figure.

There's another blog skirmish going on between NRO and the Daily Dish regarding California's Proposition 8.

These are the facts:

Obama carried California with 60+%.

Prop. 8 won in California with 50+%

Therefore, at least 10% of California voters (approximately one in six Obama voters) voted FOR Obama and AGAINST gay marriage. Not Mormons (who are not 10% of California voters). Not the Catholic hierarchy (who are not 10% of California voters). But, one in six Obama voters.

If you're upset about the defeat of gay marriage in California, take it up with the Obama campaign. The 'new' voters they registered defeated gay marriage (and were never going to be necessary for an Obama victory in California).

Why are people still arguing about this?

If 51 out of 100 people in favour of a proposition, sanity would suggest that the 50 people are 50 times more to blame for its passage than the 1 person.

But you choose to blame the 1 person instead, and ignore the other 50.

Why should we take it with "Obama voters" (only 1 of 6 of whom voted for Prop 8, according to your own words) and not with those people that overwhelmingly voted in favour of Prop 8, namely McCain voters?

Your logic has absolutely no connection to earth logic. It's merely the repetition of the same old contemptible attempt to bash black Democrats for Proposition 8, even though the overwhelming majority of Prop 8 supporters were white Republicans instead.

Shame on you.

When a dog bites a man, it's no story.
When a man bites a dog, it's a story.
McCain/Palin voters overwhelmingly oppose gay marriage? To be expected.
People voted FOR Obama and AGAINST gay marriage? That's surprising, in light of past use of the gay marriage issue as a wedge by Republicans. And, notable.
Further, the fact is that the Obama campaign did next to nothing to deliver any of his voters to his supposed allies in the Pro-Prop 8 camp. Next to nothing.
You want to bring race into this? Fine. But, you did, not me. And, it's getting old.

Obama voters voted overwhelmingly against prop 8.

Your fellow McCain voters voted overwhelmingly for it. It seems to me like if you were truly concerned with gay rights - which you are not - you would take it up with your own group of voters.

Anybody can point the finger - that's the coward's way out. What did YOUR candidate do to stop prop 8 from passing? What is YOUR responsibility? That's what you should be asking.

Cognitive dissonance, anyone?

Remember Biden at the VP debate: "I agree with Sarah" on gay marriage?

OBAMA and BIDEN are the two highest ranking elected officials in America AGAINST GAY MARRIAGE.

Repeat, OBAMA and BIDEN are the two highest ranking elected officials in America AGAINST GAY MARRIAGE.

That must hurt. I understand why you are in denial. But, it's true.

You're just sad it's Obama and Biden and not McCain and Palin who are the two highest ranking elected officials in America AGAINST GAY MARRIAGE REPEAT the two highest ranking elected officials in America AGAINST GAY MARRIAGE.

This has nothing to do with gay marriage: this is about having your ass handed to you in November. And maybe June too? Are you a PUMA? If so, you might get a kick out of the fact that Clinton voters favored prop 8 more heavily than Obama voters did, according to the same exit poll you keep citing.

REPEAT Clinton voters favored proposition 8 more heavily than Obama voters did. That must hurt. I understand why you are in denial. But, it's true.

Minister -
You say:
"REPEAT Clinton voters favored proposition 8 more heavily than Obama voters did."
Do you have link / evidence for that?
If true, I'd be interested in seeing it. If not, then you're just making stuff up.
Thanks!
