The only thing Republicans heard . . .

Obama say at the press conference was the Nancy Reagan joke. Why did he say that?

And, "help for the auto industry"? "additional policy options"?
You can either assist the market in developing alternate sources of energy and transport, or put dinosaur 19th century industries on life support. You can't do both.

The irony of having our governor (Jenny Granholm) on his team of economic advisors apparently escaped The One. Here in MI, we all said 'WTF'. Jenny has taxed and regulated MI into a minor depression. If The One bails out the auto industry, it will be as much a sop to the unions as the automakers. I think the bailout is a done deal (unions, Dem gov., blue state, etc.). That being said, government meddling had no small part in putting the automakers in the predicament they're in.

The foreboding train of words I hoped I would never read: "Jennifer Granholm, economic advisor."

For how many years have we been hearing about Michigan's "One State Recession"?
