Everything that happens in Pakistan strengthens the insurgency

Islamic militants are exploiting the strain this summer's monsoon floods placed on the military and government by regrouping their forces in northwest Pakistan, provincial officials warned Thursday.

Good weather. Bad weather. U.S. withdrawal. U.S. engagement. Democracy. Autocracy. The insurgents take advantage of every development and every disaster, whether good or bad.

That's because the Taliban militants and other Islamic extremist groups are winning.

Our side won't start winning until we start acknowledging reality.
