Oil and tar balls edged to seven miles of Florida's west coast on Wednesday, as the Panhandle braced for the state's first hit of the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster.http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/06/02/1660858/we-need-to-protect-state.html
With the 44-day-old catastrophe coming closer, so did the Gulf's no-fishing zone. The federal government expanded its closure area to cover 88,502 square miles -- 37 percent of Gulf waters -- from the western end of the Panhandle southward toward Cuban waters.
"We need to respond. We need to protect our state," Gov. Charlie Crist said at a midday visit to the state's Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee.
Obama, Crist, et al. supported off shore oil drilling in the Gulf, excusing this flip flop by relying on the "new, safe technology".
If they don't have enough class to now take responsibility, apologize and resign, they can at least shut up.
