A gag order for Blagojevich?

Federal prosecutors in the corruption trial of former Illinois governor Blagojevich are asking U.S. District Judge James Zagel for a gag order to muzzle Blagojevich and his lawyers, the Chicago Tribune reported.

In a 16-page motion filed with the court Wednesday, the prosecutors wrote that the day before, after government witness Lon Monk, Blagojevich's former friend and former chief of staff, finished testimony, Blagojevich and his lawyers made on-camera statements that the prosecutors characterized as "mini-closing arguments."

"Rod Blagojevich's efforts to manipulate media coverage to gain favorable attention and thereby to, directly or indirectly, influence the jury, has reached a level that requires court intervention," the prosecutors wrote.
