Terror again

"Federal prosecutors Thursday charged two men with separate attempted bombings at a skyscraper in Dallas and a federal courthouse in Springfield, Ill. Federal Bureau of Investigation agents, using informants and undercover investigators, set up a sting operation that was unrelated to the terror case in Denver and New York involving what authorities say was an al Qaeda plot to carry out bombings. In the sting cases, the men allegedly attempted to plant inert bombs supplied by the FBI. Authorities said there was no danger to the public. Federal prosecutors in Dallas charged Husein Smadi, 19 years old, with attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction. Mr. Smadi allegedly attempted to place what he thought was a car bomb near the 60-story Fountain Place tower in downtown Dallas, according to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Dallas. Prosecutors said Mr. Smadi is Jordanian citizen living illegally in Italy, Texas. In Springfield, federal prosecutors charged Michael Finton, 29, of Decatur, Ill., with attempting to murder federal employees and attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction. Mr. Finton, also known as Talib Islam, drove a car containing inactive explosives to a federal office and courthouse building in Springfield and attempted to detonate the fake bomb, according to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Springfield."

Denver. New York. Dallas. Springfield. All within a few weeks.

I'd like to hear from those who said the threat of terrorism was exagerated.
