The real healthcare reform deadline

As pointed out by others, the real healthcare reform deadline is November 3, 2009, the day of the New Jersey and Virginia governorship elections.

In 1993, after Democratic candidates lost both those races, Congressional Democrats facing tough reelection battles the following year abandoned the Clinton healthcare reform plans.

This year, if no plan is passed by November 3, 2009, and if the Democrats again lose both those races, expect to see history repeat itself.

That's why the Republican opposition strategy has been delay, delay, delay, and why Obama's been in such a rush.
