Who said, "End the war. Spend the money at home."?

That was Obama in Iowa in the winter of 2008. His plan: End the war and use the money wasted abroad to finance the Democratic Party's ambitious domestic agenda.

Too bad Obama lied. He flip flopped, and opted for both guns and butter, featuring continued and expanded war and accelerated domestic spending.
The conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan have cost Americans $1 trillion to date, second only in inflation-adjusted dollars to the $4 trillion price for World War II, when the United States put 16 million men and women into uniform and fought on three continents.

Even worse, the "anti war" progressives and Democratic deficit hawks now put partisan loyalty above principle.
