More mistakes in Afghanistan

"The U.S. military commander in Afghanistan is considering pulling American troops out of some remote outposts on the country's mountainous eastern border with Pakistan, where local guerrillas are allied with the Taliban and al Qaeda . . . Abandoning U.S. forward outposts, and possibly turning them over to Afghan forces, would be a tacit admission that the presence of American troops has fueled insecurity by embroiling them in local feuds and driving some local tribes to align with the Taliban."

The Greeks, Romans, Mongols, British, Russians, etc. all tried to pacify Afghanistan.

All failed.

Why do we think we will succeed?

By the way - - we're supposedly in Afghanistan to prevent Pakistani nuclear weapons from falling into Taliban and Al Qaeda hands. How does abandoning the Pakistani border to those groups help us achieve that goal? Our mission makes no sense.
