The Greeks, Romans, Mongols, British, Russians, etc. all tried to pacify Afghanistan.
All failed.
Why do we think we will succeed?
By the way - - we're supposedly in Afghanistan to prevent Pakistani nuclear weapons from falling into Taliban and Al Qaeda hands. How does abandoning the Pakistani border to those groups help us achieve that goal? Our mission makes no sense.
