Friendly advice for Sarah Palin?

In his latest column, uber conservative Cal Thomas offered "friendly advice" to Sarah Palin:

"Palin should hire a speech coach and follow that person's advice. She has a pleasant enough speaking voice, but the tone needs to be adjusted, as do her word choices. . . . And she needs a hair, makeup and wardrobe makeover. She is a beautiful woman, but appearance should not be the first thing one reacts to when people look at her."

When was the last time a good looking male politician - - Kennedy, Clinton, Edwards, Romney, etc. - - was told he was "too good looking" and should make himself less physically attractive?

If Palin does make her self appear plainer and dowdy, will she be told that she's "too butch"?

And, if she gets a clearer crisper speech pattern and speaking style, will she be too "bossy" and "bitchy"?

There's much to criticize about Sarah Palin, as to her education, her experience and her policy positions. But, if you don't see the sexism in much of the critique of Palin, from both the left and the right, you're blind.
