Ironically, for all the talk of bipartisanship, the stimulus bill failed to get one vote from a House Republican. In fact, it was opposition to the stimulus bill that attracted bipartisan support, from both Republicans and Democrats. That's what happens when you draft an almost trillion dollar package in secret, by a select few, with no bipartisan input.
Having passed the bill, why would Pelosi et al "hail the measure as immediate" and "vow the bill will bring immediate relief"?

They have to know that they're setting expectations too high.

They don't care.
Party first. This is the matra of the Dems - Party First.
Americans are ballot cattle and tax teats to these craven pricks.
Your Democrat Party leadership is no different to the Socialist Party or the Communist Party.
They need to be destroyed - bring on 2010.
Funny how it took 12 years for the Republican majority to screw it up, but it will only take 12 months or less for the Dem majority to truly screw it up.
I just can't understand why they would RAISE expectations.
Wouldn't it be smarter to lower expectations (and then add, "Bush screwed things up so bad, it'll take 2 years to clean up his mess"). Instead, they gave themselve 6 months to one year to fix the universe.
