The Senate Democratic caucus pledged not to seat Illinois Governor Blago's appointment to replace Obama. Further, they insisted the governor resign.
Why? Because a prosecutor arrested the Illinois governor.
However, there has been no indictment. No information was filed. In fact, Blago has not yet been charged with any crime. Remember, he was arrested to stop him from committing a crime, not because he committed one.
Is this the precedent the Senate wants to set? That any elected official must resign upon arrest, regardless of innocence or guilt, regardless of whether and what charges are pending, and with no respect for due process? Let's see what they do when a senator or Obama appointee gets arrested.
