Down in flames

Responding to rumors that Caroline Kennedy lost the N.Y. Senate seat due to problems with her taxes and in her marriage, as well as a potential "nannygate" scandal . . .

Actually, this is the process - - candidates for public office are required to submit their personal finances and private life to public scrutiny, in order to determine potential conflicts of interest and their susceptibility to blackmail. If anything, she was treated with kid gloves (and still couldn't make it).
