Security cutbacks?

With the recession prompting steep cuts to state and local budgets, courts around the country are facing the tough decision of whether to reduce court services or cut back on security. For many, it's a disturbing choice in a post-9/11 world.

Maybe I'm wrong, but when I enter the Okaloosa County courthouse in Crestview, Florida, and I have to be screened and my bags xray-ed, I wonder about security overkill. If and when we ever have to worry about terrorism in Florida's Panhandle, we're in real trouble.
