Healthcare 'progress'?

President Obama agreed Thursday to soften a proposed tax on high-cost insurance plans, but work continues on several remaining sticking points in the health care legislation — including the thorny issue of abortion.

The agreement on the controversial tax, reached with the nation's largest labor unions after marathon negotiating sessions at the White House, partly answered how lawmakers will pay for billions of dollars in subsidies that will help millions of uninsured Americans afford coverage.

The tax is just one in a long list of issues lawmakers must address as they reconcile the health care bills passed late last year by the Senate and House of Representatives.

How would we know?

It's all being hammered out by lobbyists and special interest groups and political insiders behind closed doors without any public input.

Exactly what Obama campaigned against.
