MIT's "health economist" Jon Gruber has been one of the most vocal academic advocates for Obamacare, appearing all over the media in numerous outlets to volunteer his expert opinion in support of whatever Obama proposes that day (even when it's a flip/flop reversal of a campaign promise).
Until today, neither Gruber nor Obama disclosed that Gruber has a $300,000 contract with the Department of Health and Human Services "to use his microsimulation model to produce 'a technical memorandum on the estimated changes in health insurance coverage and associated costs and impacts to the government under alternative specifications of health system reform.'" In other words, his "expert" support was bought and paid for. He's a prostitute, not an academic.
