With four days and counting until a nationwide tax on indoor UV tanning takes effect, salon owners are scrambling to update their books and hoping their customers choose staying bronze over saving some green.http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/06/26/1701806/tax-on-tans.html
Beginning Thursday, customers of UV tanning services will have to pay a 10 percent tax on trips to the tanning bed. The tax is part of the health care overhaul that passed in March. It was swapped into the bill late in the process to replace a 5 percent tax on cosmetic surgery that would have raised about twice as much money, but drew strong opposition from lobbyists and interest groups.
So the tanning parlors got stuck.
A tax on a service offered solely to white people, to be paid solely by white people.
But, according to most of those who adopted this tax, enforcing immigration laws, and asking people for proof of legal residence, is racist.
