The Obama administration has told U.S. lawmakers that a nuclear cooperation deal with Vietnam is unlikely to include a coveted promise by the Hanoi government not to enrich uranium, congressional aides say.http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=11348077
The administration wanted to model the agreement with Vietnam on last year's deal with the United Arab Emirates, in which the U.S. conditioned the sale of nuclear equipment and reactors upon a pledge not to create material that could be used in a nuclear weapon.
If we can't get that pledge from Vietnam, why would we proceed with this deal?
